The Rockville Brass Band performs Danses Polovtsiennes under the baton of Jermaine Fryer, in this recording made October 15th at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, Rockville, MD. The piece is notable for weaving lyrical lines with a rapid pulse. Alexander Borodin wrote the showpiece for his Russian opera "Prince Igor" over a decade, leaving it incomplete on his death in 1887. Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Glazunov completed a version for performance in 1890. Here, we brought the Danses to a 21st century audience in an arrangement for brass band by Eddie Huckridge.
