Fastware - perf - How to analyse the performance of my program!

This week we are looking into perf (perf.wiki.kernel.org), the fantastic profiler, to help us to analyse the performance of our applications.

When compiling your application please use '-fno-omit-frame-pointer' compiler flag to get more accurate results with perf.

perf is available as a package in all Linux distributions

Ubuntu: linux-tools-$(uname -r) or linux-tools-generic or linux-tools-common
Debian: linux-perf
CentOS: perf
Fedora: perf
