5 Must have Rums

If you ask any bartender what cocktail they use as a yardstick to test knowledge and skill chances are they're going to tell you it's the Daiquiri. If you've ever (or if you ever do) go into a bar for a stage shift chances are you're going to be asked to make one. The template is as simple as cocktails get, yet there are many ways to go wrong. It's a drink with one of the most forgiving templates you'll find and so malleable that it can be made into just about anything. One of the easiest and most effective ways to put a personal stamp on the daiquiri is to change out the rum. So today we explore five of my favorites that will give you great, but very different daiquiris, illustrating how unique this cocktail can be.
