Описание к видео How It Hides in Plain Sight:

Let's talk about the shadows that fall when someone's struggling.

You might notice they're rearranging their life to fit something else.

Their priorities shift, habits change, and suddenly, the things that used to light them up are gathering dust.

Watch for the whispers of change.👈

They vanish without explanation or suddenly have new friends you don't know.

Money's tight, but they're somehow always finding it for "urgent" things.

Their smiles are a performance, convincing in public, but cracks show when alone.

Apologies become a reflex, promises are made to be broken, and "next time" never comes.

Physical clues are there too.👆

Eyes that tell a different story - bloodshot, vacant, or pupils that seem stuck.

Hands that shake, or a scent that lingers - booze, smoke, or sweet perfume masking something else.

Always chewing gum when you see them.

Sleepless nights or days spent hiding, avoiding sunlight like vampires.

Weight drops off, or clothes hang loose, as if they're dissolving into their own shadow.

These signs aren't proof, but they are whispers.👈

When you see or hear them, don't shout - listen.

Approach with care, not accusation. Say, "Hey, I've noticed things feel off. I'm here."

Share what you've seen, listen, and if needed, bring in someone who can help.

The goal's to support, not to judge.👈

By doing so, you might just be the lifeline someone needs to find their way back.

Sometimes, that's all it takes.

Someone noticing, someone caring, someone stepping in before it's too late.

Here are 7 steps to follow if you suspect someone is struggling with addiction.

1. Stay calm.
Approach the situation with empathy, not judgment.

2. Observe and note specifics. Record specific behaviours or signs you've noticed.

3. Choose the right moment. Find a private, comfortable setting to talk.

4. Express concern, not accusation.
Use "I've noticed" statements to share your concerns.

5. Listen actively.
Let them share their story, and listen without interrupting.

6. Seek support.
Encourage them to get professional help, or offer to help find resources.

7. Don't go it alone.
Reach out to a trusted adult, support group, or emergency services if needed.

Here are four examples of how an addict may act in public versus in private.👈

1. Public.
Charismatic and outgoing, hosting gatherings or social events.
⬇️
Private.
Withdrawn and isolated, struggling with substance use.

2. Public.
Jovial and carefree, laughing and joking with friends.
⬇️
Private.
Irritable and short-tempered, snapping at loved ones.

3. Public.
Confident and in control, making plans and following through.
⬇️
Private.
Overwhelmed and struggling, making excuses and breaking commitments.

4. Public.
Social media "perfect," posting happy and successful updates.
⬇️
Private.
Struggling with addiction, hiding secrets and shame.

I witnessed these firsthand years ago with someone I loved.

Not because they were a bad person, but because they were struggling with deep, unresolved childhood trauma.

And until that trauma is properly faced and worked through, it often returns in cycles.👈

2026 is about deeper work. I teach the mechanism, then train the habit.
