During World War II, heavy bombers such as the B-17 Flying Fortress became icons of classical strategic bombing. Unlike the mass bombing campaigns of the B-17 era, the B-2 emphasizes limited strikes against high-value targets, reflecting a broader shift in the role of bombers—from instruments of widespread destruction to highly precise strategic and deterrent tools.
