Kimi is quietly becoming one of the most interesting dev assistants out there. After K2, K2-thinking, Ok Computer, and their agentic system we covered recently, they just dropped something developers will love: their own CLI agent.

You get a shell mode to run commands directly, seamless switching back to agent mode, GitHub actions, MCP support, and the same long-context muscle Kimi is known for. Their 256K context and the new Kimi Linear architecture make attention way more efficient on huge repos, cutting memory by up to ~75% and boosting decoding throughput up to ~6x on million-token contexts. Perfect if you live inside large codebases.

There are two caveats: it’s personal-dev only (no enterprise use yet) and limited to macOS/Linux for now. But honestly, if you’re experimenting, learning, or just curious, this is a strong alternative to Claude Code or Gemini CLI.
