Pittsburgh at Penn State 1999 GAME STORY

Описание к видео Pittsburgh at Penn State 1999 GAME STORY

Penn State welcomed Pitt as big favorites in this game but didn't account for the dogfight that would ensue. The Panthers showed up and neither team had any semblance of a running game offensively. But the unique theme of this one was the performance and entertaining antics of the one and only, Lavar Arrington. The rumors of his harassing a Panther punter are true, and that which began early in the game lasted well into the third quarter. You'll be hard pressed to find as many defensive and special teams highlights in a single game from one player in college history as this kid made on a weekly basis, and the '99 Pitt game was no exception.

Penn State Top Performers:
Lavar Arrington: 5 tackles, Interception, 2 pass break-ups, 1 blocked kick
Eddie Drummond: 4 catches, 115 yards
Kevin Thompson: 17-29, 238 passing yards

The Lions escaped this one to cling to a perfect 3-0 record while Pittsburgh suffered its first loss of the year, in only two games. The Panthers ended 1999 with a 5-6 record and did not make it to a bowl game.
