The Registrar of Companies in Karnataka has fined Webex Communications (India) Private Limited 21.47 lakh rupees. This fine is for not hiring a company secretary on time, which took 1116 days longer than it should have. This decision was made under a specific law called the Companies Act, 2013.

An officer was chosen to handle this case by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. They follow the rules of the Companies Act, 2013. Webex Communications, which started in 1995, is under the control of the Registrar of Companies in Karnataka.

The company admitted that it broke a rule (Section 203) of the Companies Act. This rule says companies must have a full-time company secretary. Because they didn't do this on time, their capital increased.

If a company doesn't follow this rule, it has to pay a big fine. The company could be fined five lakh rupees, and its directors or important managers could each be fined fifty thousand rupees. If they keep breaking the rule, the fines can get bigger.

Since Webex Communications isn't a small company, they couldn't get a smaller fine. The officer in charge looked at all the details and decided to fine both the company and its directors/managers for as long as they broke the rule.

The company and its directors/managers have to pay the fine within 90 days from when the decision was made. If they don't agree with the decision, they can appeal against it.
