Original WWOR-TV 9 Broadcast from Shea Stadium with Tim McCarver and Ralph Kiner recorded and Digitalized off the original recorded VHS tape, later converted to DVD through a DVD burner (2002) now restored and making its debut on my Phenia Film page, right out of the archives.
After a hour + rain delay in a rainy New York its Ken Hill for St. Louis vs Bobby Ojeda for New York the starters in this close, well played game considering the poor weather conditions and special thanks to Shea Stadiums head grounds Pete Flynn & crew for keeping the field in decent playing conditions despite the heavy rain fall the day of & the night before.
Its a 3-1 lead for the Mets going into the top of the 8th as reliever Don Aase comes in to replace Bobby Ojeda who pitched seven and a third, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Cardinals come up with a run in the 8th as Pedro Guerrero knocks in a Vince Coleman to make it a one run ballgame.
Randy Myers comes in to replace Don Aase and shutting the door on the Cardinals in the 9th inning and picking up his 19th save of the season and Bobby Ojeda get his ninth win of the season and Ken Hill's with his ninth loss for 1989
