This is a statement posted in many of our fire stations. We train for the worst-case scenario to achieve the best possible outcome. Interior Search and Rescue (ISAR) is a crucial skill all firefighters must learn before entering the field and running calls. Last week, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services held an ISAR class at the Cherokee County Fire Training Complex. This class is put on by members of our own department including training staff and field personnel. Using the burn building, our instructors are able to simulate a life-like hazardous fire environment where recruits are tested on their ability to conduct searches inside the building and rescue possible victims from inside. Though the goal is always prevention first, we are ready for anything at any time.
