Описание к видео Religion of the Chinese | Business | Sarthak Ahuja

On my recent trip to China, I asked a bunch of folks on what religion they follow... and their response was not what I expected...

At first, they didn’t understand the question... and when I specified that I meant Christianity or Buddhism...

Everyone at the table (7 people) mentioned that they didn’t follow anything...

I asked if they prayed to God... and they all laughed so hard, it was a little odd to see...

I changed my question to ask is there something you believe in which is beyond you...

And they said... no, there’s only one thing we believe in... which is ourselves and our ability to come out of a situation.

They were amused by the idea that we have religions as a documented part of our identity.

Because for them, one can choose to today go to the Church and say they follow Christianity, and the following day go to practice Buddhism and call themselves a Buddhist.

It’s a country of atheists... However...

They said there’s just one thing that brings us all together... and that is being Chinese.

They said the sense of nationalism was so strong that if something goes wrong in the country today... the Chinese from all over the world will give up on whatever they’re doing and get back to help the nation that very moment.

And that’s one of the biggest reasons I feel the country has progressed...

Rather than having varying identities defined by religion... they all have one religion... that is their country.

I wonder how it would be if India could build such a culture over the next 30 years... or say 4 generations?

Regardless of what can happen in India... I think we could definitely take that learning to business...

That you’re not responsible for Finance, or Marketing, or HR, or Sales...

Every single person in the company is responsible for the company as a whole...

And that solidarity can make all the difference.
