Counting and tallying of ballots is underway in Malawi's hotly contested presidential vote.
Yesterday's vote was the second in just over a year after incumbent President Peter Mutharika's re-election was nullified by the courts over irregularities.
Almost 7 million people were eligible to vote in the re-election. In February this year, the constitutional court ruled the May 2019 elections were marred by grave and widespread irregularities. The court ordered new elections be held within five months of the ruling.
