OpenLiteSpeed is an open-source web server that is optimized for managing and serving websites. It offers Apache-compatible rewrite rules, a web-based administration interface, and more. This video demonstrates how to install OpenLiteSpeed without a web hosting control panel.

Requirements:
Full root access to a server with a supported operating system (see below)
Linux: kernel 3.0+
32MB RAM, or more
300MB or more
Intel x86-64 CPU
A domain name
SSH port 22 open
TCP ports 7080,80, 443 open
UDP port 443 open

Supported Operating Systems:
Fresh installs of: RedHat Enterprise Linux and derivatives, AlmaLinux, CentOS, CloudLinux, Oracle Linux, RockyLinux, VzLinux, Debian and Ubuntu

Update outdated packages on your system:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

Add the LiteSpeed Repository:
sudo wget -O - https://repo.litespeed.sh | sudo bash

Install OLS from the repository:
sudo apt install openlitespeed

Default installation directory:
/usr/local/lsws

Check the OLS sample site at your server's domain:
https://example.com:8088

Access your server's WebAdmin Console:
https://example.com:7080

View the default WebAdmin password:
cat /usr/local/lsws/adminpasswd

Change the default userid and password:
./usr/local/lsws/admin/misc/admpass.sh

Set up HTTP and HTTPS listeners:

Verify LiteSpeed is listening for connections:
sudo lsof -i -P -n | grep LISTEN

Start or Stop OpenLiteSpeed:
/usr/local/lsws/bin/lswsctrl start
/usr/local/lsws/bin/lswsctrl stop

Update OpenLiteSpeed:
apt-get upgrade openlitespeed
