Oggi ci troviamo in Croazia a Dubrovnik e abbiamo deciso di fare un salto presso la baia di Kupari. Qui si trova un complesso di resort ormai abbandonati dai tempi delle guerre balcaniche; ce ne sono ben sette(Hotel Grand, Goričina I, Goričina II, Kupari, Pelegrin, Mladost e Galeb). Purtroppo il tempo era limitato e per visitarli tutti probabilmente ci sarebbero voluti due giorni. Decidiamo pertanto di visitare L'hotel Grand, il Goricina I e Goricina II.
Il primo albergo – Grand – è stato costruito nel 1920, da imprenditori cecoslovacchi che avevano nelle vicinanze una fabbrica di piastrelle. Già all'epoca si resero conto del grande potenziale turistico di questa zona decidendo pertanto di investirvi. Sembra che lo stesso Tito venisse a passare le vacanze in questo albergo.

Gli altri alberghi sono iniziati a comparire negli anni 60 grazie ai finanziamenti dell'esercito jugoslavo: militari e famiglie venivano a passarvi le vacanze.

Durante le guerre balcaniche, negli anni novanta, il complesso fu pesantemente bombardato dal mare, occupato dall'esercito Serbo e poi depredato. Le strutture, in abbandono da quegli anni, mostrano ancora tutte le cicatrici della guerra.




Today we are in Croatia in Dubrovnik and we decided to take a trip to the bay of Kupari. Here there is a resort complex now abandoned since the Balkan wars; there are seven of them (Hotel Grand, Goričina I, Goričina II, Kupari, Pelegrin, Mladost and Galeb). Unfortunately, time was limited and it would probably take two days to visit them all. We therefore decide to visit the Grand Hotel, Goricina I and Goricina II.
The first hotel - Grand - was built in 1920 by Czechoslovakian entrepreneurs who had a tile factory nearby. Already at the time they realized the great tourist potential of this area and therefore decided to invest in it. It seems that Tito himself came to spend his holidays in this hotel.

The other hotels began to appear in the 1960s thanks to funding from the Jugoslav army: soldiers and families used to come to spend their holidays there.

During the Balkan wars, in the nineties, the complex was heavily bombed from the sea, occupied by the Serbian army and then looted. The structures have remained abandoned since those years and still show all the scars of the war.
