Southern VIETNAMESE Food | MASSIVE Fried Elephant Ear Fish + Coconut OVERLOAD

Another day floating around the Mekong. This time doing a little island hopping to try coconut candy, buy coconut products, and of course eat some elephant ear fish at a restaurant in a deserted island.

Watching the coconut candy was a real treat. Something I would normally take for granted because I never knew so much work and craftsmanship goes into making these sticky coconut candy bites.

The elephant ear fish is a must eat fish in the Mekong and for good reason. With it’s colossal size, this fish is able to be deep fried until the skin becomes incredibly crispy. Also with being a bigger fish, that means no small bones, and of course, lots of meaty white meat.

Now, after island hoping sister La and I headed to coconut land, AKA Ben Tre. This place is super famous for its coconuts so I think it is no surprise that this whole meal was centered around, you guessed it, coconuts! From mice, bugs, prawns and more, everything got some love from some coconut.
