Description Paragraph 05: But Herb, Don and Harry are aware that music and songs are not stuck in the past, (although they have their own hilarious version of the origins of rock, which, Harry says on stage, "is older than baseball.") Hence, a brief mention of a few of the songs in this album which reach into today, musically and/or lyrically: "SALLY SUNSHINE," for example, is a charming vignette of a little black girl whose under-privileged life in the ghetto cannot erase her smile. "THE DRUM," written by Alan O'Day, is a good example of a fully contemporary song that still works well for the Mills Brothers' concept of harmony. "MY SWEET MAMA" is a song the boys picked up in Denmark during their annual summer appearance at Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens. It was a hit in Sweden, and a Danish version was getting a lot of play. An English version was written expressly for the Mills Brothers, keeping it almost an exact translation of the original, in which a young girl tells her mother that it's okay to go into her room, play the Rolling Stones, and try the daughter's mod clothes - only no need to sneak in on the sly. As she says in this version, "let's get it on together when I'm there." A somewhat more positive look at the subject of generation-gap.
