NOTE: the sixth movie is Mystery of the Abyss (2022), not Alien Invasion, sorry.

✍ Despite being one of the most iconic and representative monsters in popular culture, Cthulhu has had very few official appearances in Film and Television. The only official film adaptation of The Call of Cthulhu (1923) is Andrew Leman's 2005 black and white film, until James Wan makes his own version. We have seen official Cthulhus in brief cameos, as in The Forbidden Shadow (2010), and even in subtle detail, such as the figures in The Sacrifice (2020), or represented in drawings in different necronomicon in the Cinema, but not much more.
However, there are many unofficial portrayals of H.P. Lovecraft's Great Old One, those fake Cthulhus that are not introduced with their real name nor belong to stories based on Lovecraft, but pretend to be imitations inspired by the original monster. A very extreme example is the Behemoth in Underwater (2020), whom we only know is Cthulhu from the director's words in interviews, not from the film itself.
