In this video, I want to show you how you can easily create a WordPress Child Theme for your actual installed theme.

What is a child theme?

A child theme is a child of a main or parent theme and inherits its functionalities. A parent theme is a theme that you can download directly from the WordPress theme library (Astra Theme, etc.). A parent theme has all the functions that a theme can have: what should the header look like? Where should the navigation be placed? Which font should be used? Which colors? What does the blog page look like? Like a contact form?

A child theme, on the other hand, inherits all of these functionalities from your parent theme and can extend them. For example, the function that I built into functions.php as an example in the first paragraph - because the change is only made in the code of the child theme, the parent theme remains unaffected. If the parent theme is updated, these changes are retained because the child theme is not updated.

Therefore it is very important that you configure a child theme. In this video, I want to show you step-by-step how to create a child theme.
