You and your partner have been hunting since you were teenagers. You spent your lives traveling from place to place, finding and killing the creatures of the night that stole villager's livestock. Dragons, vampires, and of course, werewolves.
It was routine at this point. Follow the clues, find the den, kill the wolf, be home in time for dinner. You were a perfect team, bonding ideas off each other, having each other's backs. You saved each other's lives more times than you could count. After a couple years of fighting, you were beginning to think you were invincible as a team.
It was when you went off by yourselves that you got into trouble.
You heard about a wolf. A Lone, no pack, no den, no backup. You didn't think you needed your partner, not for this one. You thought it would be a simple hunt.
You were wrong.
You limped back to where you and your partner were camping. The bite on your leg burns, a reminder of the change that's occurring. You're already dizzy, already weak from the fever that's starting to tear through your body, burning in your veins.
You're scared. You and your partner have found hunters who were bit before. You'd killed them. It was routine, it was what you were supposed to do. There's no going back from a bite. No cure for that curse.
You knew you were going to turn. And once you were a wolf, it was your partner's duty to end it.
