本脇指は、鎌倉時代の薙刀を脇指に直す「薙刀直し」を模した、武人好みの豪壮な姿です。
鍛えは板目が詰んだ杢目交じり。地沸きが厚く付き、金筋や砂流しが盛んにかかり、帽子は尖るように掃きかける「志津」の作風を表しています。源清麿の真骨頂である本刀を、こちらのYouTube動画でじっくりとご覧下さい。

"Touken World", a virtual Japanese sword museum, is a website that displays a variety of artistically valuable and technologically impressive Japanese swords (called “touken”) and armor. The Touken World website conveys a comprehensive fund of information about Japanese swords and armor. Everyone, from beginners to experts, can learn a lot from the photos, illustrations and video clips as well as the written explanations of the exhibits. The website also offers a Touken World channel on YouTube, so you can also enjoy videos showing Japanese swords and armor, and learn about the art museums and shrines where Japanese swords are displayed.

This wakizashi short sword by Minamoto Kiyomaro is known to have been the treasured sword of Takano Takesada, a samurai of the Matsushiro domain in Shinano Province (present-day Nagano city in Nagano Prefecture). In the Kamakura period (1185 - 1333) naginata pole swords were modified to create this type of short sword, called a modified naginata sword, and this short sword follows that design. It has the grand and heroic shape that Kiyomaro liked. You can view this short sword, with its bright blade, for which Kiyomaro was noted, in the accompanying YouTube video.

A virtual Japanese sword museum, "Touken World", offers a variety of information about Japanese swords and armor, including basic knowledge, history and trivia, people and battles related to Japanese swords, and the master swordsmiths who created noted swords.
