On January 6, 2025, Elizabeth Naylor, also known as Jan Black or Jan Owens, mother of Laura Owens, petitioned a New Mexico court to reopen probate proceedings regarding the estate of her deceased mother. Elizabeth/Jan alleged that her brother, Mark Naylor, had engaged in fiduciary malfeasance and exercised undue influence over the estate.

The filing occurred shortly before Maricopa County investigators executed a search warrant at Elizabeth Naylor’s Scottsdale residence. That law enforcement action was part of a criminal investigation into her daughter, Laura Owens, concerning allegations of fraudulent pregnancies and the targeted harassment of multiple men. Laura was later indicted on 14 felony counts.

The litigation involving the Naylor estate reached its conclusion on February 2, 2026, when the court dismissed the case.
