視之不見，名曰夷;
聽之不聞，名曰希;
搏之不得，名曰微。
此三者不可致詰，故混而為一。
其上不皦，其下不昧;
繩繩不可名，復歸於無物。

Shì zhī bù jiàn, míng yuē yí;
Tīng zhī bù wén, míng yuē xī;
Bó zhī bù dé, míng yuē wēi.
Cǐ sān zhě bù kě zhì qiè, gù hùn ér wéi yī.
Qí shàng bù jiǎo, qí xià bù mèi;
Shéng shéng bù kě míng, fù guī yú wú wù.

Le regardant, on ne le voit pas, on l'appelle l'Invisible.
L'écoutant, on ne l'entend pas, on l'appelle l'Inaudible.
Le touchant, on ne le sent pas, on l'appelle l'Impalpable.
Ces trois qualités sont indéfinissables, et se fondent en une seule.
Son visage est sans forme, son corps est sans substance.
On ne peut l'approcher ni le fuir, on ne peut ni l'agir ni le saisir.

Look at it, you cannot see it — it is called the Invisible.
Listen to it, you cannot hear it — it is called the Inaudible.
Reach for it, you cannot grasp it — it is called the Intangible.
These three cannot be fully known, and so they blend and become one.
Its upper part is not bright, its lower part is not dark.
Unceasing, it cannot be named, and returns again to the realm of nothingness.
It is the form of the formless, the image of the imageless.
It is called the indefinable and beyond imagination.
