Our previous video of "Kulāiwi Uluwehiwehi" brought music to our ears! In this video, Manu Boyd of Ho'okena shares his mo'olelo of this song and how dear it is to his heart. He takes us around his island home of Oʻahu, naming certain areas that are known for their winds and rainfall. To honor February and Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi or, Hawaiian language month, Manu shares it all in Hawaiian. E ola mau ka 'Ōlelo Hawaiʻi! May the Hawaiian language live forever!

Hookena released their new album in December 2020 titled "Meant to Be," which features this gorgeous mele written by Manu, "Kulāiwi Uluwehiwehi", translating to "Beautiful Home."
Besides being a multi Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards winner as part of the group Hoʻokena, Manu is a kumu hula of Hālau o ke 'A'ali'i Kū Makani, the public information director for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, a commissioner for the State Foundation on Culture and Arts, and the cultural director of the Royal Hawaiian Center at Helumoa.
