Should Sonic Have AAA Games?

Sonic hasn't really been a AAA franchise since Unleashed. But should we go back to that? Was that ever really the right direction for Sonic? I'm not sure.

It's easy to immediately react to this because as fans we want big ambitious Sonic games. But it is important to step back and look at the bigger picture too. And that's not to say we can't still have cool games. Like I said, SA2 would no longer be a AAA game. But if we got a new game with similar scope to that, I'd be pretty pleased.

This also extends from my personal feelings that most AAA games are very wasteful with their massive budgets. In many ways, I think AAA games serve little purpose these days. But that's a story for another time.
