Officially titled 'Gravelly Hill Interchange' but more more widely known as Spaghetti Junction, this iconic junction is just over three miles from Birmingham City Centre, and in the present summer of 2022 is now exactly 50 years old (opened in May 1972). Here the vast swathe of elevated roadways and Motorways is viewed from the Tame Valley Canal, a noisy, dark and eerie hidden underworld, but still a place in which nature makes its home, and is comfortable with its surroundings.
