Gerry Rogers (MY LEFT BREAST), Kelly Davis (National Film Board Canada) and Mary Walsh (THIS HOUR IS 22 MINUTES, THE MISSUS DOWNSTAIRS) reflect on SJIWFF’s history and what’s in store for the future for Canada’s longest-running women’s film festival.

Gerry Rogers is a documentary filmmaker and former leader of the National Democratic Party. She loves telling stories, on the small screen, the big screen, around a dinner table or on the floor of the House of Assembly. She’s been making films for over 40 years with the help of others who love telling stories too.

Kelly Davis is the Senior Production Coordinator at the National Film Board Canada and former Executive Director at SJIWFF. In her role, Kelly helps administer documentaries, animations and interactive projects currently in development, production, post and release in the Atlantic-Quebec Studio. She created her first short Down to the Wood in 2009, and produced Becoming Labrador and Seguridad, among others.

Mary Walsh is a Newfoundland actor, writer, comedian, activist and mother. Among her many awards and doctorates, Mary is also the recipient of The Order of Canada and the Governor General’s Lifetime Achievement Award in the Performing Arts.

This series was developed with support from The Year of The Arts to share stories of outstanding artists and trailblazers in Newfoundland and Labrador’s filmmaking community.
