CJ Vanston is an American film composer, record producer, songwriter, and keyboardist, based in Hollywood, California. He is a versatile musician with a wide range of experience, having worked with artists such as Toto, Joe Cocker, Def Leppard, Steve Lukather, Harry Shearer, Michael Bolton, and Spinal Tap. He has also composed music for films and TV shows, including Christopher Guest's "Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show," and "Almost Heroes."

Vanston began his career as a keyboardist and musical director for touring bands, including Tears for Fears, Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, and Spinal Tap. He also worked as a session musician on numerous albums, including those by Prince, 'N Sync, Barbra Streisand, Ringo Starr, Jaguares, Celine Dion, Bob Seger, Richard Marx, Tina Turner, Alexz Johnson, Joe Cocker, Peter Cetera, Anna Vissi, Yellowcard, Spinal Tap, Harry Shearer, Steve Lukather, Def Leppard, Dennis DeYoung, The Believers, Toto, and most recently, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter's 2022 solo release "Speed of Heat."

In addition to his work as a performer and producer, Vanston is also a prolific songwriter. He has co-written songs with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Carole King, Paul Williams, Barry Mann, Gerry Goffin, Dianne Warren, Phil Collen, and Desmond Child.

Vanston's film and TV composing credits include "Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show," "Almost Heroes," "For Your Consideration," "Family Tree," "Slingshot," "Deep in the Heart," "Sweet Home Alabama," and "If These Walls Could Talk." He has also written and performed pieces for the Dalai Lama and Muhammad Ali.

In 2016, Vanston worked with Al Pacino on the film "Danny Collins." His piano playing is featured throughout the movie, and he appears onscreen singing and performing with Pacino and an All-Star band headed by Don Was.

Vanston is a talented and versatile musician who has made significant contributions to the music industry. He is a highly respected producer, songwriter, and composer, and his work has been enjoyed by millions of people around the world.
