6....Ne4!??! Is that even theory? | Socko vs Firouzja | World Blitz 2019

Alireza Firouzja is well known for his blitz skills, but what is extremely impressive is the fact that he can win on demand. In this game against the strong Polish GM Bartosz Socko, he had the black pieces. His opponent chose the extremely solid Fianchetto system against the King's Indian Defence.

In a position that has been played nearly 50,000 Alireza chose a move 6...Ne4!??! which has only been played 46 times! The idea was to throw his opponent off balance. This Alireza managed as he was able to surprise his opponent. The youngster managed to complicate the position and being the superior player outplayed his opponent and won the game!
