Biological control of thrips - Amblydromalus limonicus

Описание к видео Biological control of thrips - Amblydromalus limonicus

Amblydromalus limonicus is widely used for the biological control of thrips. It is capable of controlling high infestations quickly and effectively due to its great reproductive capacity. Limonicus pierces its prey with its mouthparts and then sucks out the contents. Unlike other predatory mites, Limonicus also eats the larger thrips larvae and is active at lower temperatures. The mites can reproduce while feeding on prey and non-prey food sources. This allows them to build up populations before pests are present.
