On Monday evening, several people were detained by Delhi police after holding a protest against a new court ruling on the city's stray dogs.

India's Supreme Court has given authorities in Delhi and its surrounding suburbs eight weeks to move all stray dogs from the streets to shelter homes. The ruling has come after reports of an increasing number of dog bites in Delhi and other big cities.

While some are lauding the court's decision, activists have criticised it, saying it will be difficult to move hundreds of thousands of dogs in this time.
