Why have Call of Duty Menu's gotten SO BAD over the years?

I thought it'd be interesting to systematically go through each Call of Duty game menu to see how things have progressed and show where things went downhill. The latest entry in the series, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II (2022), is now infamous for its terrible menu structure/layout, and I wanted to see how it compared to every other game in this long-running, annual blockbuster series.
