Tronex - Hard Wire Cutter Options Demonstration

Tronex hard wire cutters are designed specifically for cutting very fine hard wire, typically used in medical device manufacturing, often in the manufacturing of stents and catheters. These specialty cutters are often used under a microscope and cut very fine hard wire including Nitinol, stainless steel, Elgiloy and Tungsten. These cutters are ideal for cutting stents, catheters and braided mesh used in medical device manufacturing. All tools feature high dimensional tolerances, exceptionally sharp cutting edges, a unique joint design, and a screw stop to decrease shock from the cutting force and prevent damaging the blades and reduce dulling.

Tronex offers two types of Hard Wire Cutters – Class W & Class T:

Class W
• Completely unique process to Tronex - no one else makes Class W hard wire cutters
• Made entirely from a super tungsten alloy containing tungsten, cobalt, vanadium, and chromium
• Vacuum furnace-hardened and tempered to achieve a cutting edge hardness of 66-68 HRC
• Smaller and narrower tips - effective in cutting in confined areas and into coils
• Allow cutting of very thin hard wire with a diameter of less than .005” (0.1 mm)

Class T
• Cutting edges are of tungsten carbide material silver brazed into the jaw of the carbon steel body
• Grade of tungsten carbide optimizes toughness and hardness with a cutting edge hardness of 79-81 HRC
• Cuts hard wire to a diameter of .025” (.65 mm)
• Dual material design makes these tools tougher and less fragile that can be used to cut harder and slightly thicker wire
