Lee Anderson defects to Reform UK

Lee Anderson, the former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, has defected to Reform UK in a blow to Rishi Sunak.

Anderson, who had previously been a Labour councillor and member of the National Union of Mineworkers, was suspended from the party after refusing to apologise for claiming that Islamists had “got control” of Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London.

His move to Reform UK was announced by Richard Tice, the party’s leader, at a press conference in central London on Monday morning.
