It's here! It's here! Temple Israel's 5781 Purim Music Video. You're never too old to learn something new, and our clergy found that out by going back to school (safely on Zoom, of course) to learn the shocking secret about the end of the Purim story. Whether you live on Sesame Street or Avenue Q, this video will have you laughing your tuchus off. Bet you can't watch it just once!

Lyrics:
Good morning class!
Good Morning Ms. Trivax
What are we learning about today?
Purim!
Purim is a story we retell every year
A joyous celebration of overcoming fear
Haman tried to kill us, but he lost and we’re still here
Inspiring generations with a tale we all can cheer…
But please don’t talk about the massacre hidden at the end of the book-
Massacre? Did he say Massacre?
You can skip right by it without even a second look
It’s a bit too gory to conclude our story
So we just don’t talk about what happens at the end of the book
Ummm…Miss Trivax…I have a question…
Shut up Harold!
Please don’t talk about the carnage hidden at the end of the tale-
Excuse me could everyone please mute themselves
Most Jews don’t even know it that well
So Haman’s thriller is the end of our Megillah
Because we just don’t talk about what happens at the end of the book
It’s a story of perseverance, and ‘to thine own self be true’
Harold please turn on your video
It teaches glory, it teaches spirit
It teaches do unto them before they do unto you
Why not focus on the bravery and courage in our heroes of old
Mordechai, Esther, King Achashverosh-
It was all pre-emptive, call it self-defensive
And we just won’t talk about what happens at the end of the book
Purim is a celebration: singing, dancing, and wine
Wear a costume, tell the story
As long as you cut off at chapter nine
Please don’t talk about the bloodshed hidden at the end of the book
It’s just an alternate ending we all try to overlook
I wrote fan fiction where Cinderella turns into a vampire
It’s Jewish Harry Potter but the ending’s a real shocker
I LOVE HARRY POTTER!
So we just don’t talk about what happens at the end of the book
Key Change!
Please don’t talk about the massacre hidden at the end of the scroll
Mom I want a snack after the finale!
It’s just too messy, we’ll find us a big loophole:
It’s not like it’s in Latin, it probably didn’t even happen
But just in case we don’t talk about what happens at the end of the book
Alright well..that was certainly an interesting class. For next week your homework is to practice the zayin, chet and final chet letters in your workbooks. And please don’t forget your permission slips for our upcoming field trip to see “Fiddler on the Roof 2: Raise the Roof”. Thanks for a lovely cl…okay bye
