This entry into belay is the first way I teach any student to get into belay. Not only is it a simple, no-invert-required way in, but it is easy enough to understand the intricacies of the knot!
The second part of this is a fun knee drop!
Some TIPS:
🌟make your footlock high off the ground so you create a belay that lifts you off the ground
🌟Drape the free silk on your free leg's knee. Then wrap your free side's hand from the outside to the inside and in between the poles of the silk to grab the tail of the free silk....then pull a loop through! There's your belay loop 😍
🌟 when you put on your belay loop, NEVER put it on your head first! Always put your arm in first, then your head. Same goes for taking it off...never leave your head for last!!!
🌟 If you do the knee drop, make sure to check the height of your belay loop when you invert. You should have AT LEAST 2 feet of clearance between your head and the ground. You will most likely lose some height when you drop due to the belay loop getting slightly bigger and loser. If you dont have enough height, you will hit your head on the ground.
🌟 if you do the drop, make sure to have a snug belay loop and grab the tails close to tour crotch when you drop. Keep your knees bent until you hit the bottom of your drop! That is what catches you 😊
🌟If you are having trouble dropping. Make sure the poles of the silk are BELOW your hip bones! Your hips will prevent you from dropping forward.
