Thousands of ultra-Orthodox men took to the streets in Jerusalem to rally against a Supreme Court order for them to begin enlisting for Israeli military service, Sunday.

Footage features protesters in traditional clothing with banners and signs reading: 'Because we are Jews, we will no enlist in the Zionist army', 'Anti Religious Coercion', among others. People can also be seen marching and dancing during the event.

"The issue is that they don't want to go to the army because the Rabbis, they are their leaders, and they don't want to accept the fact that the government wants. So, right now, they are just protesting [against] that and we'll see out the developments. Personally, I don't believe that all these people will go to the army," said Ross, a yeshiva student.

Another respondent mentioned that a lot of people are Orthodox and the army 'doesn't need' them. Last week, a landmark decision was made ordering the government to begin drafting ultra-Orthodox men.

Ultra-Orthodox groups and their supporters argue that forcing their members to serve in the military would destroy their centuries-old way of life.
