Wrath of the Lich King and Why It's Remembered

For many players, Wrath of the Lich King was heralded as WoW’s ultimate peak. Everything following Arthas could never be topped, and to some extent, they would be correct. The numbers themselves would prove that Wrath was the highest point WoW subs had ever reached when Blizzard had continued to post the subscription counts on occasion. Wrath had shown it had no intention of slowing down either as its sub count only climbed higher rather than a steady downward spiral with every patch. Wrath wasn’t shy of disliked systems either, the famous mounted combat in both PvP and PvE was ultimately never received well by a majority of the playerbase. So, what made players so strongly fond of Wrath?
