Godwink Guy SQuire Rushell shares "Jake's Story" with Kathie Lee & Hoda during his monthly visit to NBC TODAY. Vicki Chapman tells how she was asked by her nine year old grandson Jake to read his book report, due the following Monday. It was a book about a boy who loved basketball but came down with a serious illness. The very day Jake's book report was due, he learned he had Juvenile Diabetes ... the very illness the boy in the book suffered. The doctors were astonished that Jake was calm, knew exactly what to expect, even knew about taking finger sticks to test his blood. "This was no coincidence," says Vicki, "of all the books in the library, Jake chose the one that God knew he needed to read, to keep him from being afraid." Like the boy in the book, Jake also loves basketball.
