I've been wanting to cover a song from Sonic Mania for ages and I love the intro music "Friends" by Hyper Potions but I've not been super confident arranging any of the tracks from Mania yet but when the trailer music for Sonic Origins dropped and it was clear that Hyper Potions composed the track I decided I wanted to cover it. I've been sitting on this cover for a few weeks now since I wanted to get the Kirby collab out first but its ended up timing quite well with the upcoming release of Sonic Origins!
To start with I was just going to have everything be played on guitar but when I decided to add the chiptune element to the track it made it sound so much better! To start with I thought this might be sort of a lower effort but decent cover but its ended up turning out really well I think so I'm happy with how it turned out.
When I started making video game covers I didn't expect Sonic music to be a super common occurence on my channel since other than Sonic Mania I'm not really a huge Sonic fan but I've always loved the music so I'll definitely be covering plenty of Sonic stuff in the future :)
