This video shows how to calculate the drainage density for catchment (Basin / Watershed / Sub-watershed using the stream line and catchment boundary using ArcGIS.
Drainage density (DD): The total length of all streams per unit area is called drainage density.

Step 1: Project layers to local projection system
(Data management tools - Projections and Transformation -Project)
(Project: Projects spatial data from one coordinate system to another.)

(Cartographic Tool - Data Driven Pages - Grid Index)
Units: Kilometers / Miles

Step 3: Clip
Clip Grids with Basin / Watershed / Sub-Watershed
(Analysis Tool - Extract - Clip)
Environments: Output Coordinate

Step 4: Intersect Tool
Computes a geometric intersection of the input features. Features or portions of features which overlap in all layers and/or feature classes will be written to the output feature class.

Step 5: Dissolve Tool

Step 8: Area Calculation for Watershed_Grid

Drainage Density (D) expressed in following units (km/km2),
D = L/A
L= Total Stream length
A= Area of Watershed / Basin

Create New Field “DD” & Calculate Drainage Density
The result is drainage density for specific grid area
