The Arizona Coyotes desperately needed the Tempe proposal to pass. It was the best chance they had at securing a permanent foothold in the area, but the voters chose otherwise: They rejected the proposal convincingly. It's a crushing blow in a long series of them in the area, by combination of terrible ownership, poor decisions, and some bad luck.

Now back to square one, the Coyotes are the lightning rod of the league: Fans across America are frustrated with how long of a leash they've been given, and the NHL somehow still thinks this franchise has a chance in Arizona.

Does it? I don't believe so, but I've been wrong before. I'm still frustrated though.
