Repairing A Boss SE-50 "Old Type" (No Talking)

Описание к видео Repairing A Boss SE-50 "Old Type" (No Talking)

Last year I found an "old type" Boss SE-50 at a local shop and while it powered on, there were no effects coming out, the input was unaffected. I used to own one of these back in the day and used it for vocal effects, and I regretted selling it.

Apparently the first SE-50 I ever owned was the "new type" SE-50A which was very easy to replace the battery in when the memory got scrambled. But when I opened this one to replace the battery and troubleshoot why it was not outputting any wet effects signal, it turns out there's a detachable circuit board not present in the post-1991 version of this model.

Whoever replaced the battery in it last did not align the connector pins correctly, and the DSP output pins must have slipped underneath the plastic box like a mini-plate tectonics. I documented with pictures and footage the disassembly, reassembly, access of the battery, and finally, I performed a factory reset.

After editing the video I recorded a 17-track song for the background, using nothing more than my Korg Radias run through the SE-50 I restored to functionality. Each Radias patch was run through a different preset effect on the SE-50, using the many great reverbs, flangers, phasers, pitch shift delays, keyboard multi-effects, etc. onboard this classic FX unit that is found throughout early 90's industrial and beyond.

I hope you enjoy this tutorial I generated.
