New energy recovery process
Solecooler invented a soft cellular material producing heat and cold, based on heat pump process, by directly harvesting environmental mechanical energy and therefore without battery or chemicals. The first application is an insole inserted into shoes to keep feet warm in winter or cool in summer by using energy of our own steps. Other applications are under development (cooling tires...).

Solecooler propose une semelle souple qui produit de la chaleur et du froid sur le principe de la pompe à chaleur mais sans batterie ni produit chimique qui nécessitent de fréquentes recharges, en récupérant simplement l’énergie mécanique de nos pas pour réchauffer nos pieds en hiver et les rafraichir en été.
The CLIMFEET insole to be inserted into the shoes protects against extreme heat or cold because it is reversible. Very thin (less than 6 mm) and very comfortable, it comes in the form of a material in two thin flexible and elastic layers: one flexible side generates cold and the other, less flexible, generates heat. Each layer has cells, filled with air, which are connected to those of the opposite layer by a small nozzle. When the foot is exerting pressure on the ground, the compression of the cells of the softer layer will compress the air towards the cells of the less flexible layer via this nozzle, which will cause a rise in temperature (as when the tire of a bicycle is inflated, the pump heats up due to the compressed air).
When the foot is raised, thanks to the elasticity of the material, the compressed air in the less flexible layer will return to the softer area through the nozzles, which will create an expansion and therefore a cooling (as when a hot car tire is deflated, the air comes out very cold). The cycle repeats for as long as the person runs or walks without limitation.
This is the first time that the principle of the reversible air conditioner (compression/expansion) has been applied to a flexible material with a thickness under 6 mm and using the energy produced by only the pressure of the feet on the ground.
Existing products that use batteries or chemicals have run times limited to one or two hours and generate waste. CLIMFEET is intended for athletes, construction workers, cold stores, soldiers, firefighters and rescue or sled dogs who are exposed to extreme conditions all day.
A study carried out in early 2021 during an effort race in a cold environment showed that these thermoregulatory insoles make it possible to obtain a skin temperature of the foot higher than 4°C compared to a traditional sole.
