Pinafore: A Vintage Apron

In this video, I will show you how I made my Pinafore: a type of apron that is both decorative and protective. This was (/is) used as a uniform, an ornament or a protective garment from dirt.

The word "Pinafore" or "Pinny" is a portmanteau of the words "Pin + afore" or "Pin in front" since they used to pin this garment in front of girls' dresses before. This apron is also known as "Jumper dress". The latter, however, has a fully covered lower back, while Pinafore has an open back.

I've been trying to find the earliest time they used this garment, probably in the 1700's the earliest record I've found, then became popular again in the 1930's.
