The Lagos Light Rail is a critical urban transit project aimed at alleviating the city's notorious traffic congestion. Officially known as the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT), this rail system is part of the larger Lagos State Strategic Transport Master Plan. The Blue Line is the first phase of the project, stretching from Marina to Okokomaiko, covering 27.5 km. It operates using electric trains and is designed to carry about 400,000 passengers daily.

The Blue Line crosses Lagos Lagoon via a long bridge, providing both a practical and scenic journey. More lines are planned, including the Red Line, which will run between Agbado and Marina, and others to further connect Lagos’s busy districts. The project is seen as a game changer for public transport in Lagos, reducing travel times and offering a safer, more reliable alternative to the often chaotic road traffic.
