HAMSTER HEALTH CONCERNS // a bit about Laverne’s recent health issues & how she’s doing

Hello hamster 🐹 friends,

A more serious topic for today's video- I'll be going through Laverne's health concerns and the medical care she has received.

I'm hopeful that sharing this information & being transparent about the difficulties of having a sick hamster (emotional and financial stress) can help prepare other hamster owners or potential hamster owners for the realities of having a hamster and the $$ you may need to set aside if they get sick.

Laverne is currently over a year old, but her age is unknown since she was a rescue hamster and came to me as an adult hamster.

Laverne developed an abscess near her ear at the end of July, 2021, her medical care dealing with this abscess has been going on for about 6 weeks as of this video. It's unclear if the abscess was caused by a small scratch that got infected, or if it was something internal that came to the surface, as dwarf hamsters over a year old can have health complications.
