Anderston Centre Glasgow Past and Present 1973-2022 Brutalist Abandoned Shopping Mall

Описание к видео Anderston Centre Glasgow Past and Present 1973-2022 Brutalist Abandoned Shopping Mall

50 years ago this Brutalist concrete Anderston Centre was opened. Many attempts have been made to rejuvenate the Centre over the years but to no avail.

It all started way back in 1968 with a New vision of the future Development including Shops, Housing for many people and a Bus station which served South of Glasgow.

Over the years from 70's into the 80's the Centre was a haven for problems which led to most people never going thereafter. it lay abandoned for many years and today in the 21st century its future looks unknown.

The 3 high rise block have been renovated and are currently occupied.

The Travelator was demolished some years ago, as has the octagon top part. Most of the internals have been stripped out now and is unrecognisable from what it was.

This is part 2 and more thorough walkabouts of what was a futuristic vision gone wrong. Building is very tired and needs work done to secure its future, although don't see that happening any time soon. Glasgow is a 21st century city today and Anderston Centre is not fit for anyone now apart from residential flats above and few small businesses it's a ghost mall an abandoned place. Restless Natives 1985 was filmed here when bus station was still operating....Enjoy.
