Sure, this is what Lotus Land Story may have looked like if it was released in 1988. If you saw my PoDD demake's demonstration video, the title screen music signaled that this demake was well underway.

Yes, this is a real game, made in GMS2, and is not an animation. This is also the fourth game (incidentally) made on my workstation, and as of this video's upload, the fifth stage is done. Like in the previous demakes in the Japanese version other than the title screen, there will also be no kanji in this version as we want to stay true to the graphical limitations of the NES.
