I think the Yashica Mat-124G is one of the best ways to test the waters of medium format photography - for several reasons: 1) It’s simple to use; 2) it produces fine images; 3) it was Yashica’s top line model; and 3) it can be found at a reasonable price point. Perhaps the last point is most important. Plus, you’ll get to decide if you like shooting square format or not.

Here, I'll take it on a shoot to the South Carolina coast and the "castle" of Atalaya to do the review. AND since the meter in my 124G isn't working, I'll be reviewing the AstrHori AH-M1 light meter as well. Spoiler alert: I was surprised at how accurate it is!
