Triumph's GT6+ is a fastback based on the Triumph Spitfire. Giovanni Michelotti regarded the Spitfire as "undoubtedly" his favorite car from his prolific and impactful career which included iconic Ferrari, Lancia, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, BMW, British Leyland, and Volvo cars. The Triumph GT6+ sports a smooth 6-cylinder engine (hence the hood budge). 12,066 GT6+s were produced.

Triumph's Spitfire/GT6 racing program won 1st in class in Le Mans 1965. The Triumph GT6 is commonly compared to the Jaguar E-type in styling.
